SFHJA Junior Committee

Jr Riders had lots of laughs last summer in the Summer Fun Classes held at each summer show. Crop Races, Musical Buckets, Horseless Jumpers and the all time favorite, Ride-A-Buck brought tears of laughter and raised over $460.00 for our charity, Children, Hope & Horses. This, all thanks to you, kids!

At the annual Charity Show, we sponsored the first annual Trainer Equitation Class. This class gives us kids the chance to be our trainer’s trainer and they get judged on how they tack up, too! We walk the course without any help, tell our trainer how it should ride and what they need to do. We school them ourselves. We can have a groom help set the jumps but no outside help other than that. There was prize money, trophies and cool stuff. The winning barn was Sweet Oak! They were loud and supportive and Shane was a very good student!

Way to go guys!!!

This year we want more involvement from you guys. We are looking for a couple kids from each barn to be their barn’s representatives, the voices, so everyone can have a say of what they like, don’t like; things that need to be changed or added. Also, this will provide great insight to how SFHJA works; what it takes to put on a horse show, how to throw a great party and what it takes for everybody from the different barns to come together for a common goal. There is also the history and all the great riders of today and before who were/are members of SFHJA. Did you know George Morris gave clinics to the local riding club and that Audrey Chesney won the first ever Maclay Final? It’s up to us to carry it on. That’s why we want you, to be a part of a rich history.
